BTA 2030 ambition

For each Sustainable Development Goal, we have set measurable targets for 2030 and concrete activities to achieve them.

Support the health and well-being of customers, employees and society by providing accessible health insurance solutions and promoting healthier, more active lifestyles and mental well-being.

Accessible and digital health insurance
Target: by 2030, provide a more accessible and digital health insurance experience – 90% of claims processed automatically, 15% of health insurance customers using eMed, an integrated digital health ecosystem available to customers, and health insurance offered to individual customers.
What we do: we develop the mobile app, digital health card, digital claims submission, eMed and Laura, our chatbot for health coverage questions. We automate claims handling, expand self-service and connect health information and services into one seamless customer journey.

Employee well-being
Target: deliver at least 5 well-being activities annually, covering all five well-being dimensions, and ensure at least 70% employee participation.
What we do: we maintain employee health and accident insurance and offer activities across five dimensions – emotional, social and physical well-being, competence development and recognition. We shape future activities based on the Great Place to Work® (GPTW) survey and employee feedback.

Health and active living in society
Target: deliver at least 25 health, well-being or active-lifestyle activities annually in the Baltics, in cooperation with at least 3 strategic partners.
What we do: we continue and develop active-lifestyle and mental health initiatives (e.g. the campaign "Kusties, kusties, lai var labi justies" in Latvia) and cooperate with partners that promote accessible active living.

Enable equal opportunities for development, participation and career growth, regardless of gender, age or other individual differences.

Equal opportunities and non-discrimination
Target: achieve and maintain at least 90% positive employee perception of equal treatment and non-discrimination in the GPTW survey.
What we do: we analyse GPTW results and implement improvements where needed. We promote equal opportunities, workforce diversity and intergenerational inclusion both inside and outside the company (e.g. the anti-ageism initiatives "Amžizmas" and "Amžizmo barometras" in Lithuania). We monitor diversity indicators and discrimination risks.

Manager awareness of equal treatment
Target: all managers receive information on, or participate in an activity covering, equal treatment, non-discrimination, respectful communication and available reporting channels at least once every two years.
What we do: we cover these topics in manager trainings and development activities, with particular support for new managers. We keep the Diversity Policy up to date and provide employee-structure reporting to VIG.

Build an engaging, productive and continuously learning organisation where employees can develop, grow and reach their potential.

Learning and development
Target: at least 90% of employees participate in at least one development activity per year, with at least 1,000 learning hours annually in each of the three strategic directions.
What we do: we develop digital learning platforms (e.g. Coursy and Masterplan) so that learning is accessible regardless of location. We deliver development activities in three directions: High Impact Leadership & Culture, Future Ready Talent, and Customer & Business Value.

Employee experience
Target: maintain at least 85% employee participation and a Trust Index score above 80% in every GPTW survey cycle.
What we do: we monitor employee experience through the GPTW survey, implement action plans based on feedback, strengthen manager communication and employee involvement, and promote well-being, recognition and collaboration initiatives.

Employee retention
Target: by 2030, maintain annual employee turnover at or below 20%.
What we do: we regularly analyse turnover drivers, plan improvements based on exit interviews, GPTW and other employee data, and prioritise teams with elevated turnover risk.

Promote safer and more resilient communities across the Baltics by strengthening risk literacy, customer risk awareness and employee engagement in socially meaningful activities.

Customer risk awareness and prevention
Target: deliver at least 4 risk-prevention communications to customers annually, based on BTA claims insights, customer questions and seasonal risk trends.
What we do: we share practical advice on preventing insurance risks via e-mail and the BTA app.

Risk literacy in society
Target: deliver at least 2 public risk-literacy initiatives annually, covering safety, responsible behaviour and everyday risk management.
What we do: we continue educational initiatives (e.g. the Bicycle Patrol "Velopatruļa" in Latvia), engage with universities and students through guest lectures, educational visits and expert involvement, and share safety information through the media and social media.

Employee contribution to society
Target: at least 70% of employees participate in Social Active Day activities every year.
What we do: we offer employees one paid volunteering day a year to take part in socially meaningful initiatives of their choice. We also organise company-led public-benefit activities throughout the year.

Reduce BTA's operational environmental footprint and integrate climate and environmental considerations across operations, underwriting and investment decisions.

Fleet and sustainable energy use
Target: by 2030, at least 85% of the fleet consists of hybrid or zero-emission vehicles, and the share of renewable electricity reaches at least 50%.
What we do: we gradually renew the fleet with lower-emission vehicles, assess EV charging options, maintain bicycle and scooter parking at the central office, conduct annual energy audits and implement priority improvements.

Environmental management and awareness
Target: maintain ISO 14001 certification throughout the strategy period.
What we do: we keep the Quality and Environmental Policy up to date, address improvement opportunities identified in audits, promote waste sorting and resource efficiency, and support environmental initiatives across the Baltics – "Rohetiiger" in Estonia, WWF "Green Office" certification and tree planting in the BTA forest in Latvia.

Sustainability in procurement
Target: by 2030, we request sustainability-related information from suppliers and partners in at least 90% of procurement processes.
What we do: we include questions on partner certifications, policies and sustainability activities in procurement and consider this information in the overall assessment.

Paperless operations
Target: by 2030, reduce A4 office paper purchases across the Baltics by at least 15% compared with 2025.
What we do: we continue paperless practices and develop digital contracts, e-signatures, electronic document flows, DriveX and self-service.

Energy-efficient property underwriting
Target: by 2030, integrate building energy-efficiency criteria into underwriting and pricing for all relevant new and renewed commercial property policies with available energy-performance data. We review the portfolio annually.
What we do: we collect building energy-performance certificate data and offer differentiated pricing or favourable coverage conditions for more energy-efficient properties (e.g. A-class office buildings).

Renewable energy and e-mobility insurance
Target: by 2028, introduce or enhance at least two insurance products for renewable-energy and e-mobility assets, including relevant incentives.
What we do: we develop insurance solutions for solar panels, wind generators, e-bikes and e-scooters, electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, simplify risk assessment and make the products available through agents, brokers and direct sales.

Sustainable investment
Target: by 2030, reduce CO₂ emissions from the investment portfolio by 30% against the 2023 baseline. For new real estate investments, we prioritise buildings with A+ energy efficiency and BREEAM Excellent or equivalent certification.
What we do: we follow VIG's portfolio decarbonisation approach, monitor portfolio CO₂ emissions and integrate sustainability criteria into the assessment of real estate investments.

BTA follows VIG climate targets and provides CO₂ emissions data for VIG Group accounting and progress tracking.
