BTA Kindlustus will begin offering new fire insurance cover to the contractual customers of Eesti Energia. The electricity consumer will gain an insurance cover in the amount of 10,000 euros, which, in the event of a fire, also covers the risks that a regular home insurance does not. If you have fire insurance, the compensation will cover, among other things, the deductible of home insurance, the part of the insurance indemnity reduced by the home insurer, medical expenses related to the fire, loss of income, and necessary expertise expenses in addition to the damage to the insured building.
‘The statistics of the Rescue Board are quite telling: almost a quarter of all fires are caused by electrical equipment failures.
Unfortunately, not all accidents can be prevented. The fact that half of Estonian homes are uninsured is also cause for concern. This means that without the insurance cover, you have to cover all the expenses yourself in the event of an accident, which can be overwhelming for a lot of people. In order to make insuring your home easier and more affordable for everyone, we have developed a solution that a customer can choose to add to their existing electricity or gas agreement,’ explains Jaak Jõgi, Head of the Estonian market at Eesti Energia.
Eesti Energia will begin offering fire insurance to its electricity service customers in June.
Eesti Energia chose BTA Kindlustus as its partner in offering fire insurance after an intense competition. ‘The best was selected from several providers, meaning that the customer will receive a wide insurance cover under the best terms,’ said Andres Külaviir.
‘In addition, the customer does not need to worry about renewing their insurance agreement, because Eesti Energia will take care of that.’
